Dear authors, thank you for the nice and timely review of recent BMC research. Your figure 5 shows the presence of drifters in the area between December 1994 and February 1996. During this period RAFOS floats visited the BMC and showed the cross-frontal exchange of subantarctic water and subtropical water near meander extreme. It seems that subsurface "blubs" of subantarctic water can enter the subtropical regime without showing a surface temperature expression.
