Regarding measurement of the barotropic component
of the Malvinas Current: I would think shipboard
and lowered ADCP surveys would be useful,
particularly if a good 75-kHz or 38 kHz shipboard
ADCP installation were available. That would
provide excellent horizontal resolution as well
as vertical coverage. One could of course survey
a T/P line several times to estimate the geoid.
