the data indicating the teardrop shape was SST which I looked at in conjunction with our float seeding in 97 and 98. The pulses aren't exclusively of that shape, but I believe to recall a number of instances where the current/pulse looked like a wave about to break, that is with a very steep ascent and a gradual descent, looking upstream. I can try to dig it out if you are interested.


WRT the extrapolation, it would be helpful if the CM locations would be superposed to the movie. I tried to come close to this by opening two browsers and putting the movie and the array next to each other, but they don't have the same scales, and hence it's hard to compare. With this crude method I have the feeling that there are instances with a the zero velocity isotach located inshore (but not at the shelf) of the 1200m/30km current meter. I can't help but to wonder how this can happen when you pin the velocity to zero at the wall?
