the data indicating the teardrop shape was SST which I
looked at in conjunction with our float seeding in 97 and 98.
The pulses arn't exclusively of that shape, but I believe to
recall a number of instances where the current/pulse looked like
a wave about to break, that is with a very steep ascent and a gradual
descent, looking upstream. I can try to dig it out if you are interested.
