Shoreline Meteorology Observations

Starting 28 April 2000, a complete set of meteorolgy measurments are continuously being measured at a site just seaward of the Marine Operations Building, inshore of the MISO array. The observations include 10m height wind speed and direction, air temperature and dew point, short and long wave incident radiation, barometric pressure and rain fall rates. The instruments are maintained by Dick Lind, of the Meteorology Department at the Naval Postgraduate School.

An animation of wind vectors from sensors deployed in Montery Bay and along the shoreline is also available.

A hourly updated, one day timeseries of these observations can be seen below. Note that the latest conditions are on the left side of the plot. The times shown are in Universal Standard Time, so local time is UTC - 7 hours during daylight savings time, and UTC + 8 during Pacific Standard Time. An ascii listing of the last 24 hour observations can be found at Del Monte Beach Met Listing . Other local met site timeseries can be found at Monterey Bay Aquarium Meteorology and Monterey Airport Meteorology web sites.
