Exploration of a Large Eddy Simulation Data Set
In this example, using a numerical simulation of the West Florida Shelf,
the student can view the model domain and then proceed to explore
the three-dimensional volume in a variety of ways.
This image shows 6 different output variables from the LES model.
The model domain is 128 m x 128 m x 53 m deep.
The model is nonhydrostatic and explicitly calculates the
three-dimensional eddy field spectrally down through the inertial
subrange before using sub-grid parameterization.
Thus, it is a complete and statistically realistic solution of the
primitive equations.
