Float was launched in a triad ( NPS#90 , 91, 92 ) ~ 146 km off Monterey Bay approximately along CalCOFI Line65 with a distance between the points in a row of ~20 km.
The float entered the interior almost immediately after the launch (Figure 2). On August 22, 2002 the float entered an anticyclonic eddy (Figure 4): it did a small anticyclonic loop, and later two consecutive larger loops between September 21 and November 17, 2002. The eddy it was trapped by had the following characteristics:

The float was balanced for 275 dbar and was between 293 and 371.3 dbar during the mission (Figure 3).
