The float was launched in a triad with NPS#43 and NPS#52 (never broadcast). The triad was launched in an across-shore row with the nearest to the shore point about 12 km distant from Pfeiffer Point, a distance between points in the tow was about 5 km (Figure 1).
On launching the float seems to enter the Undercurent and moved along coast till the end of April (Figure 2).
On April 30, 1997 the float turned offshore and on June 14, 1997 was entrained by an anticyclonic eddy (Figure 4). It is the same eddy NPS#43 was entrained in on June 6, 1997.

In March 1998 the float left the eddy but continued to move westward till the end of the mission.The float was ballasted for 275 dbar but the actual depth was deeper (Figure 3): 414.2 ± 16.0 during the first 110 days of the mission and after it entrained the eddy, the float was rising to 195 dbar.
