The float was launched in a pair with NPS#31 from a site between Pt. Reyes and Monterey Bay (Figure 2).
The float demonstrated marginal reversing flow for the first 32 days: initially it moves cyclonically offshore, then southwest. Then the float curved anticyclonically, entered the undercurrent off Cape San Martin, and moved along the coast for about 50 days Figure 1, Figure 2. On November 15, 1994 the float was entrained by an anticyclonical eddy west of Pt. Arena (Figure 4) with diameter of 30 km and period of 11 days

and moved westward with the eddy till the end of the mission.The float was ballasted for 290 dbar but the real depth was between 288 and 338 m (Figure 3).
