The float was launched in a triad with NPS#4 and NPS#8 about 100 km southwest of San Francisco (Figure 2). The floats in the triad were launched in a nearly equilateral triangular pattern with a side of about 8 km.

After launching the float went southeast and then offshore: did a small anticyclonic loop (with diameter of less than 20 km) around the launch site during the first 20 days, stalled, then moved south 60 km, stalled again, and then moved into the interior. Prior to surfacing it did an anticyclonic loop with diameter of about 30 km (Figure 1, Figure 2).

The float was ballasted for 350 dbar and its real depth was between 300 and 350 dbar. (Figure 3).
