GNOME Homework

In this part of the GNOME exercise, you will choose a location, set up the parameters for the model and explore the importance of tides and winds for your location.

Choose one of the following locations and get your model setup instructions:

As you go through the scenarios, you will be answering the following questions. Support your answers with specifics.

  1. Are tides important for your location? How does the tide affect where the oil goes?

  2. Does the wind have a significant effect? How do the oil's trajectory and shoreline impacts change from the scenario without any wind?

  3. Briefly discuss the difference between the "best guess" (black) and the "minimum regret" (red) trajectories for one of the cases you ran. Do you think this type of information might be useful?
