The Hawai‘i Soil Atlas, where this shapefile was sourced, was funded by the Agribusiness Development Corporation, a attatched agency to the Hawai‘i State Department of Agriculture. The Hawai‘i Soil Atles was developed by a team of researchers at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Soil description and fertility data in the Hawai‘i Soil Atlas were derived from three sources developed by the USDA NRCS: 1) Official Soil Series Descriptions (OSD), 2) National Cooperative Soil Characterization (NCSC) Database, and 3) Soil Survey Geographic (SSURGO) Database.
