This site is intended to provide a collaborative working environment for:

1. Summarizing current knowledge on the impact of thermobaricity and other "equation-of-state" phenomena on deep convection in the ocean;
   
   
2. Facilitating interactions among theoreticians, modelers and observationalists on what measurements would be most productive for evaluating the role of thermobaricity in deep convection; and
   
   
3. Formulating a scientific plan directed at measuring active or recent episodes of thermobaric convection in the Weddell Sea in late winter.
