yes, their model rings (like observations of high
eddy variability) seem to preferrentially form
in the Kuroshio Extension region in
the high-EKE area near 150-155W, and travel WSW
back toward and across the Izu Ridge, where
south of Japan they may then influence the
formation of the large meander. Quite interesting
for the KESS experiment!
