I think daily mean current acrossing section is very good point to
lok at. And current along section, too.
Finding on IOs is new stuff. We didn't recognize it before.
Your explanation seems to me in right direction... but, need more...
Have you similar example elsewhere ?
I suggest using temperature-salinity sectional plots based on
historical dataset instead of MOODS.
Tide is relatively easy to model, but tidal current is not.
Calibration and validation of tidal model could be a needed job.
