Dear Deidre,

thank you very much for your revision. I am sorry
to answear with some delay (I am in Italy for the
last TRACMASS project meeting).

Concerning the "Cold" route that is not so cold ...
You are right, in the sense that at EQ. Atl. the
contribution of DRAKE and ITFL (that are historycally referred as the cold and warm route respectively) are not so different in term of
water masses: cold waters are not anymore cold and
warm ITFL water are not so warm. We are actually
working to quantify water mass transformations in
the three GCM models.

In the Speich et al. 2001 GRL paper there is a quick discussion on times related to pathways.
ORCA results seem to suggest that more than 90%
of water transport is transmitted to EQATL in less
than 100 years and this is true for all three origins.

Concerning T-S diagrams I will try to find the most significant pictures to initiate a discussion. They are not so easy to interpret
because water parcel are subject to multiple
transformations.

About eddies effect, the comparison with OCCAM
simulation show that the three water paths is robust. Probably there is an impact on water masses transformation and sections connection This is also work in progress in term of GCM comparison.

Thank you very much again!

Sabrina
