I wrongly posted my message on the general forum,
but here it is again:
I'm particularly interested in the NAC, and it seems to me that
the 0.1 deg model doesn't show a mean northward flow in the
region of the NAC, nor a clear eastward flow (along ~52N) as
the drifter data show. The mean flow seems dominated
by the eddy field in that region. Also interesting is the
'tongue' of high EKE centered around ~50N, 47W. You mention
that high model EKE's compared to drifter data is also the case
for the Gulf Stream. Could you share any thoughts on what could
be the cause of this, or how this may be improved?
I also had a question on how the model deals with topography,
and which topography database is the one used, if it was
smoothed or filtered for the model run. I ask because it is
thought that topography seems to play an important role in
steering both the NAC and it's continuation to the east,
and I was wondering if the model would show evidence of this.
Very nice poster!
