Congratulations Julie et al. on a really informative
and well-arranged poster!
It is a clear exposition that "eddy-permitting" resolution
is not enough, but "eddy-resolving" resolution comes close
to replicating in a model the surface flow field statistics.
I'll remark that the 0.1 degree resolution (in a deep ocean
setting) is also necessary for OBSERVATIONS, in order to
obtain good estimates of the potential vorticity distribution
in large scale current systems.
For the mean surface currents, can you display separately the
Ekman and geostrophic constituents? And for the geostrophic
components separately the baroclinic (bottom- or
deep-referenced) and barotropic (near-bottom) constituents?
