I have read over the virtual poster entitled ...

"Aspects of the East Australian Current mesoscale variability observed by satellite altimetry and the WOCE PCM3 current meter array" by M. Mata et al.  I found the poster both informative a interesting   Congratulations to the authors.

The main point I want to raise for the discussion is with
regards to slide 7 where it is suggested that there is
cyclonic circulation south of the separation point of the
EAC, when the EAC separates further north than 32S.  Is it
clear that this is a cyclonic circulation in this
region??  From a climatological study that this reviewer
has performed jointly with another author, it appears that
there is a seasonal (and perhaps interannual) anticyclonic
circulation that impinges into the Tasman Sea from the south.
I look forward to hearing thoughts from the authors on this.

Best regards, Neil Holbrook.
