It was very interesting to see that your initial record length transport average for the EAC was very close to the previous estimates of EAC transport (22Sv vs. 20Sv). Did this transport average included the reversals of transport due to the anticylonic eddies? If it did, is it possible that previous estimates of EAC transport, based on observations, could also have been contaminated by these eddies? I would be interested to see what the average transport of the EAC would be if the separation index was used to isolate when the EAC was actually passing through the array. Looking at the transport in slide 6 it appears that the average transport might increase by quite a bit if the reversals were excluded.
