I have contacted several of the people in this group and in the
Nov poster group about the presence of equatorward currents
embedded in western boundary currents. Such equatorward
currents have now been reported by Beal et al in the Agulhas,
by Boebel et al in the Brazil and by Mata et al in the EAC.
There is evidence of the same thing in the Kuroshio but little
has been said about it. The Gulf Stream must have an average
equatorward current south of Cape Hatteras but I haven't seen
any report of one. I would be grateful for any information about
equatorward currents in wbc's.
