Upper Ocean Heat Fluxes in the Arctic Ocean

The SHEBA experiment is a yearlong field study designed to improve our understanding of the heat balance of the Central Arctic Ocean, which appears to have a pivotal role in the world's climate. I am studying the role of the ocean mixed layer and upper pycnocline in this heat balance using heat flux instrumentation which is being deployed from the SHEBA ice camp in the Arctic Ocean for a year.

Thesis topics focus on analysis and modelling of this large and unique data set which is now being collected:
